Niagara River Drift Dive - Canadian Side
One thing we should make clear up front: No, you don’t come anywhere near the falls. Drift diving is exciting and fun – you barely have to kick; the river does most of the work. Don’t be surprised if your dive buddies include walleye, sturgeon, pike, and gar.
You should expect 30 to 40 feet of visibility with water temperatures in the upper 60's (June) or mid-70s (September). To see what you should expect, a Canadian dive club has posted videos of past drift dives here.
We will drift on the Canadian side of the river just past Fort Erie, from where Frenchman’s Creek empties into the Niagara River to the Black Creek, as shown in the map. The exit point is across from Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island.
We are planning two runs down the river, each lasting 45 minutes (depending on the speed of the current) at a depth of 15 to 25 feet.
What we supply:
Guided dive down the river
Dive Flag, Float, & Reel per buddy team
Lunch – please let us know if you have any special dietary needs by emailing dives@ru4scubaa.com.
