St. Peter Wreck Dive

St. Peter Wreck — Advanced Wreck Dive

The St. Peter is one of Lake Ontario’s most compelling—and demanding—wreck dives. Sitting in cold, dark water at advanced depths, this historic wooden schooner is best suited for experienced divers who are comfortable with deep profiles, limited visibility, and true Great Lakes conditions.

Descending onto the wreck feels like stepping back in time. The intact hull structure, scattered deck features, and surrounding artifacts tell the story of 19th-century Great Lakes commerce. Visibility can vary widely, water temperatures are cold year-round, and conditions often include low light and the potential for current, making proper planning and disciplined diving essential.

This is not a casual sightseeing dive. Divers should be confident with:

  • Advanced buoyancy and trim

  • Cold-water exposure protection

  • Deep dive planning and gas management

  • Wreck awareness and situational control

For those with the training and experience, St. Peter rewards you with an authentic Great Lakes wreck experience—quiet, powerful, and unforgettable.

Required: Advanced Open Water (or equivalent), Deep Diver certification, and prior cold-water diving.
Strongly encouraged: Wreck training and redundant air supply.

If you’re ready to push beyond recreational comfort zones and experience Lake Ontario wreck diving at its most serious, the St. Peter belongs on your dive log.
