Course Description: What if you could explore the ocean while still being able to breathe? You can—it is called scuba diving!

Like Snorkel Explorers, scuba divers wear a mask, snorkel, fins, and a wetsuit. Scuba divers also use some unique equipment that helps them breathe underwater, adjust their buoyancy, and track information during their dive.

As a Scuba Explorer, you can enjoy the thrill of scuba diving in a swimming pool or a confined water site while learning new skills, like clearing your mask and regulator and learning how to communicate underwater. It is so much fun!

Age Restriction for Safety: Ages 8 & Up Only for Scuba Explorers.

Prerequisite: Children must have already complete Snorkel Explorers (part of the SSI Explorers Starter Package). 

Pool Sessions & Recognition Badges: Classes consist of the following four, 2-hour pool sessions in a small group of four students. Students can earn up to 5 Explorer Recognition Badges. 

• Session 1-3: Scuba Explorers & Perfect Buoyancy Explorer
• Session 4: Enriched Air Nitrox Explorer, Search & Recovery Explorer, & Advanced Explorer 

Gear You Will Bring from your Snorkel Explorer Class: SSI Explorers Textbook, Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Swimsuit, Towel, Neoprene Socks (optional), Wetsuit or Thermal Layer (optional)

Gear We Provide: Rental of Children's BCD, Regulator, Tank, & Weights during pool sessions
